MEDIA ADVISORY for September 27

Today’s Date: September 26, 2016 – Since 2012, National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) has been a day to celebrate democracy by engaging the media, celebrities, and volunteers to participate in the most fundamental part of our democracy: registering to vote. Voterise, a nonpartisan nonprofit 501-c-3 organization, is dedicated to increasing voter registration and civic engagement of millennials, communities of color, and other groups that are under-represented in Utah’s electorate. Utah Campus Compact is a vibrant statewide coalition of nine colleges and universities that helps to engage annually over 34,000 college students in Utah communities. Together, we plan to register new voters across nine Utah colleges and universities and keep new voters engaged through civic engagement activities around policy issues they care about most. Through our efforts on and around NVRD, we plan to register 2,500 - 3,000 voters, engaging partner organizations, and about 60 student and community volunteers. Each campus has determined the best activities and methods for this activity (details below)
